In some instances, placement of implants may be required for a patient’s desired outcome. Other procedures, such as single crowns, partials, over-dentures, and crowns can often benefit from the support of an implant. Once the implant has become part of the patient’s existing structure, it will become a viable substitute for the natural tooth. If the situation requires, a provisional restoration may be utilized, though the tooth’s viability for gestation is not recommended. Following three to six months of osseo integration, placement of the permanent implant occurs.
